Aloha! Having been born and raised on
the tiny island of Moloka'i, nicknamed the "Friendly Isle" and commonly referred to as the "most
Hawaiian island", I feel I grew up learning to appreciate
the finer things in life. My
love for the ocean, mountains, and just nature in general, stems from
the vast natural beauty that I grew up surrounded by.
My Hawaiian heritage, language, and culture have always been
an integral part of my life as well. My studies at the University
of Hawaii at Hilo allowed me to not only further develop my cultural
connection and knowledge base, but also to enhance my artistic
skills while contributing to much of the curriculum being produced
for the Hawaiian language immersion schools.
I believe my art reflects not
only my upbringing and love for nature, but also my connection
to our rich Hawaiian culture and heritage. Technology today
allows me to incorporate these fundamental and distinctive
aspects into my artwork, which ranges from Silk - Screen designing,
Video Editing & Animation,
Illustration, and now Graphic Designing for CD covers, Invitations,
Business Cards, Flyers, etc. I especially enjoy working on and
putting together Video Slideshows for various occasions. I love
the additional element of emotion that music and sound effects
provide when added to snapshots of memorable events, people,
occasions, or memories.
When not working on my graphics, I can
be found down at the beach, at Kuki'o. I am fortunate
in that I have the opportunity to educate on the beauty of our islands, the depth of our history,
and the richness of our environment - while still being able
to do all the fun stuff like surf lessons, outrigger canoe
rides, and coconut weaving.
Being an avid outdoors person, I LOVE to SURF, Paddle Canoe,
and Dive (basically anything to do with being in, on, or around
the ocean). I also enjoy Hiking, Snowboarding, Skateboarding,
Computer Graphics and Video, but most especially, I enjoy spending time with my three adorable nieces Hulali, Li'ula, & Haweo!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or
graphics inquiries.
